The tree is also known in English as "leadwood" – Omumborombonga is the heaviest wood in the world.
After your hike through this fascinating forest you have time to freshen up before continuing your journey towards Etosha National Park. Etosha is the country's most famous National Park for good reason and cannot be missing from a hiking tour in Namibia either.
In the afternoon you go on your first game drive here and have the chance to discover some of the park's many wild residents.
After your game drive you continue to Etosha Safari Camp just outside Etosha National Park, where you will be at home for the next two nights.

Prepare for a unique hike with an early breakfast. Today you cross the so-called "Moon Landscape", a place like something from another world, which offers wonderful hiking opportunities.
Seen from a distance, the region appears abandoned and uninhabited. But on your hike your guide can show you various plants and perhaps even a few creatures that have developed ingenious methods of surviving in this harsh climate.
Probably the most famous plant here is the Welwitschia mirabilis. This fascinating plant can live to well over a thousand years old. When the midday sun makes itself felt, you head to the Goanikontes Oasis at the end of your hike, where you can reward yourself with an ice cream or lunch (both optional).
Back in Swakopmund you can spend the rest of the afternoon as you wish. You stay overnight at Swakopmund Guesthouse again, just a few minutes' walk from the coast.

You also visit Sesriem Canyon, where you can walk along the dried-up riverbed in the gorge of the canyon. With many new impressions you leave the park around midday and drive on to Büllsport Lodge & Farm.
