About us

The head office in Gundelfingen near Freiburg, the branch in Pinelands near Cape Town, five subsidiaries in Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana, carried and driven forward by our passion and our expert knowledge of travel in Africa – that is Elefant-Tours. As a specialist tour operator for Africa trips, we show you not only the well-known highlights but also share our favourite places with you. Transparent, individual, personal.

Our story in a nutshell

2004

Company founded by Holger Wiebe as a classic start-up with a not quite competitive computer and an analogue telephone line in his own four walls.

2005

The company is converted into a GmbH and Henning Schmidt joins as a partner. Move into the first office premises and hiring of the first trainees.

2006 & 2007

Besides three permanent employees, two more trainees are hired. Founding of the subsidiary in Tanzania, managed on site by Henning.

2010

10 team members in Germany and founding of a subsidiary in South Africa.

2014, 2018 & 2021

Founding of the subsidiaries in Namibia, Kenya and Botswana.

2023

5 team members in Germany and 11 further employees at our branches in southern and eastern Africa.

Even though the size of the company has changed rapidly, the fascination for Africa, with its seemingly endless expanses, wild animals, unspoilt nature, breathtaking landscapes and friendly people, has remained to this day.

Our team regularly goes on tour to discover new things for you or to confirm tried and tested ones. Detailed knowledge of the destination is a prerequisite for competent advice before and good care during the trip. Well-trained and highly motivated employees, first-class value for money and service-oriented advice complete our offering.
