Hello Mr Schuff,

Uganda really is the Pearl of Africa. The country has so much more to offer than other destinations in Africa and is worth a second trip too. Beautiful, varied landscapes; alongside the BIG FIVE, in Uganda you can also marvel at chimpanzees, mountain gorillas and other endemic animal species up close.

The mountain gorillas are of course the absolute highlight. Unbelievable how close you get to the animals. An unforgettable experience!

We had booked a German-speaking tour guide and were more than happy. We could not have wished for a better guide than Meddy.

A big THANK YOU from the heart! We will definitely be back.

Many thanks to Elefant-Tours for the great planning and organisation.

The undisputed highlight of a trip to Uganda is without doubt gorilla tracking. Certainly the most expensive hour of my life, but also one of the most impressive. The gorilla family in Mgahinga National Park with no fewer than 3! silverbacks was something quite special.

Virunga volcano gorilla trekking

In Budongo Forest Reserve there were more of our closest relatives to marvel at, albeit mostly from afar, individual animals from the habituated chimpanzee group consisting of around 80 individuals.

Of course the "usual suspects" such as lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe … were not missing, and not even the leopard. It is good when the guide knows where it has its hideout – incidentally right by the road – otherwise we would hardly have spotted it. A cruise on the Victoria Nile was not missing either, where, alongside bathing elephants, hippos fleeing into the water and the odd crocodile, bird lovers in particular got their money's worth … fish eagles, kingfishers and many others are part of the standard repertoire here.

A breather from the camping activities, which are more or less strenuous depending on personal feeling, was offered by the historic Masindi Hotel, where celebrities such as Ernest Hemingway, Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn once spent the night.

At the end of the trip I was also lucky enough to see a shoebill in the Mabamba Swamps on Lake Victoria near Entebbe. Sunset Hotel Entebbe offers good tours. Not exactly cheap, but: "once in a lifetime" or "twice?". I would love to visit this country again.

First of all, a huge thank-you to Mr Schuff, who, despite many small adversities before the trip, always kept a cool head and always found a solution! Just under 2 weeks in Uganda turned out to be a great time with fantastic experiences! Thank you so much for the sensational choice of route, accommodation and guide! Mr Schuff knew immediately what I had in mind for this trip and what was important to me. We have now been back for 1 week, but my thoughts are still in Uganda.

The accommodation was such that every day you thought the next lodge could not be topped. The staff were warm, the food a delight and the experiences indescribable!

Visit with a gorilla in Uganda

Highlights such as the boat trips at Murchison Falls, in the Kazinga Channel of Queen Elizabeth Park, the chimpanzee trekking or the long hike to the mountain gorillas will stay in my memory forever!

One of the people who contributed to it turning out so wonderfully was our guide Robert. Top league! Not only absolutely on top of every daily routine, as a great driver or as a guide for mammals. As a birder, too, he was one of the few in my life who knew sooo much. A true delight!

Rhinos on a Uganda safari

You could also laugh a lot with him! He was always patient, reliable and sharp-witted! Top through and through! He handled the 4x4 cruiser perfectly, no matter how steep the slope, how muddy the track or whether fog took away our view. He found the leopard and always had an open ear for many small wishes.
This was my 2nd time in Uganda. The first time was already awesome, but this time, apart from one planning mistake on my part, it was an absolute dream holiday! And certainly not the last in Uganda. That much is certain!!!

Thank you for everything!!!

Hello Mr Schuff

Our trip to Uganda was fantastic, you put together a great programme for us. Almost everything worked out too.

Our flight was 3 hours late and we only landed at 00:30, then all the formalities with visa and test, and when we were finally outside at 1:30, unfortunately nobody was there to take us to the guesthouse, so we had to take a taxi.

The next morning, however, our guide Hassan appeared on time (06:30) and our trip could begin. Hassan did everything absolutely perfectly, he is a very good driver, has great knowledge and is a good sniffer dog for animals.

The lodges were all very beautiful too, the food great and the people very friendly. Uganda rightly bears the name Pearl of Africa. It is a beautiful, green, lush country with wonderful people and great wildlife.

The two treks were also great. The chimpanzees and gorillas are very impressive, but I had my personal highlight in an encounter with a leopard. It was so beautiful that tears came to my eyes.

Silverback Uganda

The tree-climbing lions in Ishasha will also stay unforgettable for us; they were absolutely delightful, the way they hung in the trees.

Well-fed lion in a tree

It was truly an unforgettable trip and we will certainly travel to Africa with Elefant-Tours again.

Many thanks for your efforts with all the rescheduling.
