After your arrival in Lusaka and completing immigration formalities, you are warmly welcomed at the airport by the Meet & Greet team in Zambia. You then check in for your onward flight to Kafue National Park – Zambia's oldest and largest wildlife reserve. Covering an area more than half the size of Switzerland and offering a wide variety of habitats, Kafue National Park has great biodiversity. This ranges from elephants, zebras, buffalo, pukus and oribi through sable, roan and lechwe antelope to hippos, crocodiles and much more. But lions, leopards, cheetahs and the rare African wild dogs can also be encountered here with a little luck. With over 500 bird species, Kafue National Park is a paradise for bird lovers. Despite being easy to reach, this huge area is visited by only a few tourists, which is why Kafue National Park retains its original, untouched wilderness. After your arrival at the airstrip you are driven to Kaingu Safari Lodge, idyllically situated on the banks of the Kafue River. The following days are at your leisure. Go on exciting game drives in Kafue National Park, enjoy boat trips and fishing trips on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Kafue River, or explore the surroundings on foot to enjoy breathtaking views over the vast landscape. In the morning it is time to say goodbye to the Lower Zambezi, as you fly by light aircraft to Mfuwe Airport, the gateway to the famous South Luangwa National Park. You are already expected there and taken to Msandile River Lodge, which lies on the banks of the Luangwa River. Over the next few days an extensive exploration of South Luangwa National Park is on your programme. In the morning you go on a game drive in the National Park, which is undisputedly one of the finest jewels among Africa's wildlife reserves and therefore a "must" for every safari lover. Its abundance of wildlife is particularly impressive, but the scenic beauty and untouched wilderness also make visitors' hearts beat faster. The lifeblood of the park is the Luangwa River, which, depending on the season, swells into a broad river or shrinks to a small trickle. Along its banks, lagoons and numerous tributaries, excellent wildlife viewing is possible, especially in the dry season. The most common animals in the park include puku, impala, waterbuck, kudu and zebra. Countless hippos and crocodiles frolic in the river and on the sandbanks. The endemic Thornicroft's giraffe, large herds of buffalo, elephants, lions, leopards and much more can also be found in the park. In the late afternoon you head out on another game drive – look forward to more exciting wildlife encounters. You stop for sunset before heading back to the lodge. You stay at Msandile River Lodge.
Additionally, and for an extra charge, you can also take part in walking safaris. The Luangwa Valley is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to walk among the wildlife. From a different perspective and without vehicle noise, you experience the pristine nature intensely and can soak up the smells and sounds of the African bush.
