Day 1-2

Harare – Mana Pools National Park

Transfer by light aircraft approx. 1.5 hours

After your arrival at Harare airport, your pilot is already waiting for you and welcomes you warmly. Your Zimbabwe fly-in safari begins and you fly to Mana Pools National Park.

The name “Mana” means “four” in the Shona language and refers to the four lagoons – Main Pool, Chine Pool, Long Pool and Chisambik Pool – which shape the floodplains of the lower Zambezi and hold water all year round.

With an impressive floodplain landscape and species-rich fauna and flora, Mana Pools was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. In this landscape you can watch hippos, elephants and numerous bird and antelope species. With a little luck you will also spot lions, hyenas, leopards and the rare African wild dogs.

Kanga Camp lies in the Zambezi Valley, slightly away from the river, at Kanga Pan. This natural waterhole holds water all year round and therefore attracts numerous wild animals. The surroundings of the camp can be explored on guided game drives in an open safari vehicle and on guided bush walks.

You spend the night at Kanga Camp.

Mana Pools National Park

Transfer in an open game drive vehicle approx. 2–3 hours

After the morning game drive and your breakfast, you are taken by safari vehicle to Nyamatusi Camp. The drive there is already a safari experience, as exciting wildlife sightings present themselves again and again along the way.

Nyamatusi Camp lies directly on the banks of the Zambezi in Mana Pools National Park and offers a stunning view of the mighty river. From your accommodation you can watch the wildlife passing by and enjoy the special atmosphere of this unique wilderness.

A particular highlight is game drives in an open safari vehicle along the expansive floodplains of the Zambezi. Thanks to the camp's location right on the river, canoe safaris are offered as well as classic game drives and guided bush walks.

You spend the night at Nyamatusi Camp.

Day 5-6

Mana Pools National Park – Lake Kariba

Transfer by light aircraft approx. 30 minutes

Today you continue your fly-in safari through Zimbabwe and fly by light aircraft from Mana Pools National Park to impressive Lake Kariba.

Even during the flight you look down on the mighty Zambezi and Lake Kariba. The shallow shoreline with its striking dead trees forms a unique habitat for hippos, crocodiles and an impressive variety of waterbirds.

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge sits on a hilltop and offers a spectacular panoramic view over Lake Kariba. Sit back and enjoy the famous sunsets.

When the sky turns intense shades of orange and red and the silhouettes of the dead trees are mirrored in the water, one of the most romantic and impressive backdrops in Africa is created.

During your stay you can explore the surroundings on guided game drives, bush walks and boat safaris. Fishing trips and a visit to a traditional village also offer exciting insights into the nature and culture of the region.

You spend the night at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge.

Day 7-9

Lake Kariba – Hwange National Park

Learn more ↓

Transfer by light aircraft approx. 1.5 hours

Today you continue your Zimbabwe fly-in safari to Hwange National Park – the largest and most species-rich National Park in Zimbabwe.

To the west the park borders Botswana and its protected areas directly. As the border is not fenced, wildlife can move freely. This creates one of the most important cross-border ecosystems in Africa. Besides the “Big Five” – elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard and lion – with a little luck you can also watch African wild dogs and an impressive variety of bird species here.

Somalisa Expeditions Camp lies in the heart of the National Park, overlooking the savannah of Kennedy Vlei. The region is regarded as one of the best areas in Africa for watching elephants and is called the “Land of Elephants” for good reason.

A special highlight of the camp is the small guest swimming pool, which borders a natural waterhole – the so-called “Elephant Pool”. Elephants regularly come right up to the camp to drink or cool off – often even in full view of the terrace or the pool.

As the camp is located in a private concession, you enjoy special freedoms with safari activities. Besides daytime game drives, exciting night drives and guided bush walks are also offered, giving you fascinating insights into the fauna and flora of Hwange National Park.

You spend the night at Somalisa Expeditions Camp.

Victoria Falls also offers a wide choice of activities. Take a walk along the falls, enjoy an atmospheric sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi or experience the falls from a bird's-eye view on a helicopter flight.
