Arrival in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Your transfer driver welcomes you at Victoria Falls Airport. After a short drive you reach your accommodation, and the rest of the day is at your leisure. You can use the time to visit Victoria Falls (optional). With a width of over 1.7 kilometres, Victoria Falls are among the largest waterfalls in the world. On the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Zambezi River plunges approx. 110 metres, creating an impressive natural spectacle. At high water the spray that results can rise up to 30 metres and is often visible from afar. No wonder Victoria Falls is also called “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, which translates roughly as “the smoke that thunders”. You spend the night at Shongwe Lookout Guest Lodge (standard option) or at The Palm River Hotel (comfort option).

If you haven’t managed it the day before, today you have more than enough time to marvel at the imposing Victoria Falls. For the adventurous among you, the “adventure capital of Africa” also has plenty to offer: bungee jumping, white-water rafting, sunset boat trips on the upper Zambezi and scenic flights by helicopter or microlight are just some of the optional activities on offer. Or how about a walk in the rainforest directly adjoining the falls? The small town of Victoria Falls is also worth a visit, especially the local wood-carvers’ market (all activities optional). You spend another night at Shongwe Lookout Guest Lodge (standard option) or at The Palm River Hotel (comfort option).

After a relaxed breakfast you set off today across the border into Botswana. You are picked up by a transfer driver and driven to Chobe River Lodge, which lies right on the Chobe River in Kasane. After a fortifying lunch you take your first game drive in one of the most species-rich parks in southern Africa, Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park is particularly known for its large elephant population, and the Chobe River is an important lifeline for many animals. With a little luck, besides elephants you can also spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, numerous antelope species, zebras, giraffes and many other wild animals here. Look forward to spectacular safari experiences in Botswana’s unspoilt nature. You spend the night at Chobe River Lodge (standard option) or at Chobe Bakwena Lodge (comfort option).

Alternatively, you can take a boat safari on the Chobe River and watch the animals refreshing themselves at the water. The park is also home to many extraordinary birds, such as the African skimmer, the African fish eagle, the lilac-breasted roller, the grey-headed kingfisher and the malachite kingfisher, to name just a few of the more than 450 different bird species that live here.
