Our expert tip"Seclusion, untouched wilderness and pure safari – you can experience all of this in Kafue National Park. This works particularly well at Nanzhila Plains Camp in the remote south. With only 6 rooms, it is the only camp for miles around, and you have nature all to yourself here. A truly magical place to leave everyday life behind, switch off, marvel and enjoy."

Guest feedback"As the saying goes, after a trip is before a trip, and we will most certainly plan the next one in southern Africa with Elefant-Tours."

Livingstone

Vehicle transfer Livingstone Airport – Taita Falcon: approx. 30 minutes

After your arrival at Livingstone Airport you are welcomed by your transfer driver and taken to Taita Falcon Lodge. Spectacularly situated on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, the lodge perches around 230 metres above the Zambezi River. From here you enjoy impressive views of the gorge and the river flowing far below. In the afternoon you can arrive at your leisure, relax and take in the impressive landscape. The following day a walk along Victoria Falls is recommended (optional activity). "Mosi-oa-Tunya" – "the smoke that thunders" – is also what the falls are called. On the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the mighty Zambezi River plunges about 110 metres over a width of around 1.7 kilometres – an impressive natural spectacle! Depending on the water level, the rising spray envelops the viewpoints in a fine mist and provides a refreshing shower. In the afternoon you can take a sunset boat trip on the upper Zambezi (optional activity). With a little luck you may see hippos and other animals coming down to the bank to drink. You then return to the lodge and let the day fade away with a view of the Batoka Gorge. Alternatively, you can explore the gorge on a hike or use the lodge's cycle paths. You stay at Taita Falcon Lodge.

Vehicle transfer Livingstone – Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp: approx. 6–7 hours

After breakfast you are picked up by a driver. Your luggage is stowed in the vehicle and you are off, heading north to Kafue National Park, Zambia's oldest wildlife reserve. Kafue National Park was founded in the 1950s. It covers 22,400 km² and is thus one of the largest National Parks in the world. The Kafue River winds through this untouched wilderness and creates a multifaceted landscape: from river courses, floodplains, thickets and miombo woodland to open, wide savannah. Thanks to its different habitats, the park is home to a large variety of animal and bird species. Buffalo, zebras, elephants, oribi and puku, roan, sable and lechwe antelope as well as crocodiles and hippos live in the reserve. With a little luck you can also see leopards, lions, cheetahs and the rare African wild dogs. With over 500 bird species, Kafue National Park is also a paradise for bird lovers. As the park is still relatively unknown, only a few tourists are found here and there are still many undiscovered tracks through the bush. As a result, the original, untouched wilderness of Kafue National Park has been preserved to this day. On the drive into the southern sector of the park you are sure to experience your first impressive wildlife sightings. In the afternoon you reach Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp, where you will spend 3 nights. From the camp you can take part in game drives and bush walks and have good chances of seeing 4 of the Big 5: elephant, leopard, lion and buffalo. You stay at Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp. After an eventful stay at Nanzhila Plains Safari Camp, you continue north to Nanzhila Lake Camp. This camp is also located in southern Kafue National Park, in the area around Lake Itezhi-Tezhi. Overlooking the Musa riverbed and the wide, seasonal floodplains, you spend the coming nights here. The following days offer the chance to explore this varied region on game drives and guided bush walks. Elephants, buffalo and numerous antelope species, among others, live in the area. With a little luck you may also spot lions, leopards or African wild dogs. Between activities you can relax on your veranda and let your gaze wander over the landscape.
