Our best adventure destinations along the Garden Route
Four weeks on the road by car on a self-drive tour through South Africa. Four of us in one Toyota Avanza. 24 hours a day together through thick and thin. After this trip we will know each other better than from "normal" life with coffee and dinners out.
South Africa, wonderful diversity
In November 2016 I travelled to South Africa. I had wanted to visit this country for some time, having heard a lot about it and seen many wonderful pictures. We flew with South African Airways directly from Frankfurt to Johannesburg. At the airport we collected our rental car from Bidvest, which went smoothly.
Info trip to Kenya
In May 2011 I had the opportunity to take part in an info trip run by our Kenyan safari partner. Before that, a visit to several beach hotels in Mombasa was on the programme.
On the road in Namibia by rental car and on safari in Botswana
At the beginning of November 2016 my now second trip to Namibia and Botswana began. Since I had already travelled in Southern Africa about 2 years ago on a guided tour, it was now time to explore Namibia on my own by rental car.
By dugout canoe in the Okavango Delta
Africa. One of the great travel dreams. And at the top of most travellers' wish lists is of course Cape Town, a safari, endless sand dunes in Namibia, Victoria Falls and culture. Our travel expert Marcus took a close look at exactly these dream destinations for 3 weeks.
South Africa with children: safari and plenty of adventure
Many parents of small children would probably rather steer clear of a safari holiday in South Africa for fear of travel illnesses, predators or other potential dangers. Long driving times can also be tiring with small children. With the right planning, though, most eventualities can be prevented.
From Zambia to Zimbabwe: hot and wildly good!
"Zim 'n Zam" is what locals call Zimbabwe and Zambia. And as an expert on travel in Southern Africa you simply have to have been to exactly these two African countries. So in October 2016 I set off for Elefant-Tours to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.
Mountains, safari and sea, Tanzania 2016
In mid-July the time had finally come. My first educational trip was at the door. Ahead of me lay 5 weeks in Tanzania with a varied programme of mountain climbs, safaris and accommodation inspections. My trip started like so many trips from Germany, at Frankfurt airport.
Once South Africa, always South Africa: an interview with two who know it well
The Schliemanns have already been to South Africa eight times. This year, as winners of the Elefant-Tours prize draw, they flew to Mzansi and took a round trip through the south of South Africa and along the Garden Route.
My adventure in Southern Africa 2016
Africa! Being so far away from Freiburg and Europe on my own for the first time brought me experience, maturity and wonderful moments. My journey took me from South Africa via Namibia and Botswana to Zimbabwe.
Africa straight out of a picture book: on a photo safari in Tanzania
Photo guide Claude Melde travelled in northern Tanzania and showed five enthusiastic amateur photographers his very personal East Africa. They captured their experiences in unique pictures.
"Fascination AFRICA" winners' trip to Tanzania
Hello dear travel friends, "And the winner is…" – who doesn't like hearing their own name in that context? Especially when it comes to the draw for 3 fantastic Africa trips, which were up for grabs at the beginning of the year in our "Fascination AFRICA" prize draw.
A long way around – Namibia 2016
Full of anticipation, on Easter Monday I took the train to Frankfurt to fly with Air Namibia directly to Windhoek. On arrival I was picked up on time by our partner and taken into town to my first accommodation.
Malawi – The Warm Heart of Africa
In April 2016 I flew with South African Airways from Frankfurt via Johannesburg to Lilongwe. At the airport our driver and the other participants of this info trip, run by Malawian Style, were waiting for me. Since 1975 Lilongwe has been the capital of Malawi, with currently around 800,000 inhabitants.
Our main prize winner on the road in Namibia and Botswana
This year, too, we once again raffled 3 fantastic Africa trips in our "Fascination AFRICA" prize draw. Our main prize winner Inge Jäger could hardly believe her luck when we informed her of her win.
Photo tour 2016 through central and northern Namibia
In spring 2016, too, I accompanied a 14-day photo tour through the wild, unspoilt north of Namibia as a photo guide for Elefant-Tours. Alongside landscape photography, the tour programme focused above all on wildlife photography.
South Africa travel report
At the end of November 2015 my info trip to South Africa began. Having only got to know the east of the African continent until then, I was curious what awaited me in the south. The trip began with a direct South African Airways flight to Johannesburg.
Impressive Namibia & animal paradise Botswana
On 18 April 2015 our latest Africa adventure began. We were already really looking forward to spending the next 4 weeks in Namibia and Botswana. From Frankfurt we flew with Air Namibia directly to Windhoek.
