South Africa – the whole world in one country
On 23 February 2013 I flew with Emirates via Dubai to Johannesburg, where my first camping tour "South Africa – the whole world in one country" started in the reverse direction. After a night beforehand, we set off early in the morning on 25 February and drove along the Panorama Route towards Kruger National Park.
Info trip to Uganda – the pearl of Africa
On 5 November 2012 our info trip to Uganda began for my colleague Stephan and me. We flew with Turkish Airlines from Frankfurt via Istanbul to Entebbe. Early the next morning we reached Entebbe airport and were already awaited there by David and Ange.
Mozambique – the "unknown beauty"
In October 2012 my boyfriend and I flew with Emirates from Frankfurt via Dubai to Johannesburg. As we had about 8 hours' layover in Dubai, we took the metro to Dubai Mall in the morning to see the newly opened tallest building in the world.
My first Tanzania adventure
On the afternoon of 19 August my tour to Tanzania began at Frankfurt airport. With Qatar Airways I flew first to Doha and from there on to Kilimanjaro Airport. Already on landing I was greeted by the white summit of Kilimanjaro.
Self-drive round trip in La Réunion & Mauritius
In 2012, too, a trip to the southern hemisphere was on the agenda. On 28 August Condor took off towards Mauritius. From there I continued to the French overseas department of La Réunion.
Botswana and Namibia excursion
In April and May I travelled to Botswana and Namibia again to broaden my knowledge of these countries and to get to know their accommodation and routes better.
Botswana fly-in safari
As always, I was really looking forward to this year's info trip as I boarded Lufthansa's huge Airbus A380 on 27 April. It took me directly from Frankfurt to Johannesburg in South Africa.
Gathering first experiences – on an overland tour in Southern Africa
My first trip through Southern Africa, during which I travelled parts of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, began on 31 March 2012 in beautiful Cape Town.
Tanzania intensively: a five-month stay in Arusha
In July 2011 I was offered, spontaneously, the chance to work for 5 months at our sister company in Tanzania, and I accepted without thinking long. After the initial great anticipation, many thoughts went through my head: what awaits me on the Dark Continent as a white woman with blonde hair? So I was curious.
Trekking: climbing Mt. Meru
After my ascent of Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route had succeeded and was a real experience, I was drawn to Mt Meru too. This is the 5th-highest mountain in Africa. For four months I had marvelled at Mt Meru every day from my workplace in Usa River and seen it in all colours and weather conditions.
Self-drive tour through South Africa
On 12 September 2011 my colleague Evelyn Kürz and I, Hanna Sütterlin, boarded Lufthansa's Airbus A380, which took us directly from Frankfurt to Johannesburg. Right after collecting the rental car in Johannesburg we set off for the idyllic little town of Pretoria.
The unspoilt south of Tanzania and Zanzibar
After a very relaxed flight with Ethiopian Airlines with a stopover in Addis Ababa, I landed in the coastal metropolis of Dar es Salaam. With its estimated 3–4 million inhabitants and as the country's largest commercial, administrative and industrial centre, Dar es Salaam is rightly regarded as Tanzania's de facto capital.
Self-drive tour of Southern Africa
On 16 May I flew with a direct South African Airways flight from Frankfurt to Cape Town. To make this self-drive tour easier for me and not to travel alone through Southern Africa for almost 6 weeks, I had a travel companion with me throughout the tour.
Southern Africa and Zimbabwe
Together with my colleague Verena Brode, I landed in Cape Town after a non-stop Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt. Our 3-week adventure could begin. After collecting our rental car – a 4x4 double cab – we set off towards Stellenbosch, where we spent our first night.
… from Southern Africa
This year's trip to the Dark Continent took me to Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. It began in the pulsating town of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. After my overnight flight from Frankfurt via Johannesburg to Victoria Falls with South African Airways, a driver was already waiting for me.
South Africa experiences
On 18 March 2010 my colleague Verena Brode and I started our 4-week South Africa trip. The South African Airways Boeing took us on a non-stop flight from Frankfurt to Johannesburg in 10 hours.
Adventure Southern Africa
On 21 January 2010 my trip through Southern Africa began with the South African Airways flight from Frankfurt to Johannesburg. On arrival at Johannesburg airport I was picked up by a transfer driver of the local operator and taken to Drifters Inn in Johannesburg, the starting point of the tour "Through Southern Africa and back".
Namibia pure
On 20 November 2009 my colleague Marlene Tritschler and I started our three-week Namibia trip at Frankfurt airport. Early in the morning, having landed safely in Windhoek with Air Namibia, our guide and driver from Namibia Tracks & Trails were already waiting for us and introduced us to the rest of our group.
